1. Overview

AI Verdict (the "Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how the Extension handles information when you use it.

The Extension is designed with a "Local-First" philosophy. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data, API keys, or AI conversations to any external servers owned or operated by AI Verdict.

2. Data We Access

To provide its core functionality, the Extension requests the following browser permissions:

  • Storage: To save your local settings, such as theme preferences, layout configuration, and active model selections. This data is stored exclusively in chrome.storage.local on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. It persists until you uninstall the Extension or manually clear it via Chrome settings.
  • Tabs and Windows: To orchestrate the AI models (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity) in background windows and keep them in sync with your active session.
  • Host Permissions: To interact with AI provider websites (chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, perplexity.ai) on your behalf, automating the input of your prompts and retrieving their responses entirely within your browser.
  • DeclarativeNetRequest: To modify network request headers locally, enabling AI provider websites to function correctly within the Extension's interface. No request content or response data is intercepted or logged by AI Verdict.

All of the above operations occur locally on your device. AI Verdict does not operate any server-side infrastructure that receives, processes, or stores your prompts or AI responses.

3. Third-Party AI Services

AI Verdict acts as a local orchestration layer between you and the AI providers you already use. When you use AI Verdict, you are interacting directly with third-party AI services using your own accounts. Your use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies:

  • OpenAI (ChatGPT): openai.com/privacy
  • Anthropic (Claude): anthropic.com/privacy
  • Google (Gemini): policies.google.com/privacy
  • Perplexity AI: perplexity.ai/privacy

4. Payment Processing (Pro Version)

If you choose to purchase AI Verdict Pro, all payments are securely processed by our Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. AI Verdict does not collect, process, or store your credit card information, billing address, or any other financial details. Lemon Squeezy handles these transactions in accordance with their own privacy and security policies.

To verify your Pro license status, the Extension may communicate with a license validation service using only your license key. No personal information is transmitted beyond what is necessary to validate the license.

5. Website Analytics (This Landing Page Only)

While the AI Verdict Extension itself collects no data, our promotional website uses analytics tools to help us understand visitor traffic and improve our marketing:

  • Google Analytics 4: Collects anonymous usage data such as pages visited, session duration, and general interaction metrics. Uses cookies to track sessions.
  • Microsoft Clarity: Collects anonymous heatmap and session data to help us understand how visitors interact with the page. Uses cookies.

This tracking applies only to this website, not to your use of the Chrome Extension. The Extension remains completely local and private.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking via Google's opt-out browser add-on. You can opt out of Microsoft Clarity via Microsoft's opt-out page.

6. Data Security and Chrome Web Store Compliance

Because all data processing occurs locally on your device, your information is as secure as your browser environment. AI Verdict has no access to your prompts, your AI responses, or your conversations.

AI Verdict's use and transfer of any information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Your Rights (GDPR and CCPA)

Because AI Verdict does not collect or store your personal data on our servers, there is very little personal information for us to provide, correct, or delete on your behalf. However, your rights include:

  • Right to Access and Deletion: The only data AI Verdict stores is your local Extension settings in chrome.storage.local. You can view and delete this at any time by uninstalling the Extension or going to Chrome Settings and clearing the Extension's storage.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Data Sale: AI Verdict does not sell personal data. There is no opt-out required because no sale occurs.
  • California Residents (CCPA): We do not sell, share, or disclose personal information to third parties for commercial purposes. The only third-party data sharing is through Lemon Squeezy for payment processing (Section 4), which is a service provider relationship, not a sale.
  • EU / EEA Residents (GDPR): No personal data is transmitted to AI Verdict servers. The legal basis for processing your local Extension settings is your consent via installing the Extension. You may withdraw this consent by uninstalling the Extension at any time.
  • Website Analytics Opt-Out: See Section 5 for how to opt out of Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity tracking on this website.

8. Children's Privacy

AI Verdict is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our services, please contact us at aiverdict@proton.me and we will address it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
